One Big Beautiful Bill Act (aka: OB³A)

The Bill’s key elements will increase the typical American families’ costs for health care, food, and utilities! OB³A has implemented historic cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP aka Food Stamps); it has terminated tax credits that were in place designed to ensure production of more clean energy while creating a “slush fund” for the Trump ICE agenda.

Believe it or not, when averaged, as many as five major polls concluded American voters strongly oppose cutting Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Regardless, SNAP cuts will total an estimated 230 billion dollars over a 10-year period and to add insult to injury, beginning October 1, 2028, states will be required for the first time to cover a share of SNAP’s remaining benefits.

As for Medicaid, expect spending cuts to reach approximately one trillion dollars over the next ten years. This reduction is expected to lead to approximately 11.8 million people to become uninsured!

Oh, and in case you’re wondering Medicaid is a joint federal-state government program that provides health coverage for low-income individuals and families.

People living in the U.S. illegally are not eligible! When President Trump, in his May 16th 2025 post wrote:  “Republicans MUST UNITE behind, ‘THE ONE, BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL!,’” Trump’s post continues: “Not only does it cut Taxes for ALL Americans, but it will kick millions of Illegal Aliens off of Medicaid to PROTECT it for those who are the ones in real need.” . . . As is typical, he lied or was totally confused!

Regardless, only 80% of Americans will qualify for a tax cut! And Second, Illegal Aliens or Immigrants simply do not qualify for Medicaid!

But here’s an actual Fact that may have created some confusion: Several states have taken steps to expand health coverage to immigrants, including those without legal status, using state funds that are totally absent of Federal dollars.

Examples: California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, Washington, and the District of Columbia.

The One Big Beautiful Bill allocates more than 100 billion dollars to ICE and border enforcement. While the funding runs until 2029, ICE is not required to spend the money evenly each year; meaning they could spend it all the first year!

The legislation makes ICE the largest federal law enforcement agency in the US.  Oh yeah, the now former ICE annual budget stood at about 8 billion dollars. Interestingly, ICE is currently over their Budget by about a million bucks, which may explain the lack of ‘designer’ uniforms.

Perhaps with the budget increase, some nice medium Brown-shirts can be purchased and implemented as the standard ICE uniform—oh, one suggestion, ditch the masks & use them as bandannas, wild rags, or neckerchiefs 🙂    After all the “Brownshirts” were a big success for more than 10 years: especially during pre-war Germany back in the 30s and 40s 🙁

On a related note, the white supremacist group, Proud Boys in Upstate New York are still ecstatic thanks to Donald Trump’s mass pardons on January 20th of 2025. They’re not just celebrating — they’re now actively looking forward to getting involved in immigration enforcement.

Meanwhile, in Northern Nevada, the group based there recently shared a sinister image depicting a swastika rising like a sun with the caption, “A new day is about to dawn in America  it’s going to be glorious.”

From immigration bounties to threats against the LGBTQ+ community the Cape Fear and Columbus Proud Boys chapters have taken things a step farther, reportedly offering to take on “independent contracts” to collect “bounties on illegals.” Their threats don’t stop with immigrants though; they’ve also issued a special warning to drag queens!

While the Proud Boys rally behind the President, his administration is wasting no time in issuing harsh new directives for “Proud Boy new hires”, certain to swiftly be removed from the current Medicaid and SNAP recipient rolls!

But will “Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill” repeal the critical Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022?  Well-l-l-l, not entirely, though programs for solar, wind, Electric Vehicles, and more will be crushed by the legislation even though the IRA, if left intact, was expected to reduce the country’s carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 40% by 2030. Reckon that could have an adverse effect on global warming and therefore increase inclement weather—hope not, don’t you?

And too, this means there will be fewer affordable sources of energy production for a country that has developed a hunger for more, lots more electricity! And as I recall, a reduced energy supply coupled with an increased demand means higher prices for electricity that is; right? Thought so 🙂

That way of thinking is not something I just dreamed up by the way; it’s the near unanimous conclusion of the academics and policy experts who have been trying to understand the long-term effects of OBBBA or Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill. Part of the reason for this unanimity is that, once constructed, many newer energy sources like wind and solar don’t have substantial operating costs compared to traditional power plants fueled by natural gas or coal that must be continuously supplied with fuel.

Another thing, it may not be exactly true that FEMA funds are slated to be diverted to pay for constructing the facility commonly known as “Alligator Alcatraz” in Florida and certainly no part of the new ICE funds are slated to be used.

As is typical of the current administration, it has “clarified” that the FEMA funds to be used are designated for immigration detention and related operations”, not for disaster relief as was once reported.  And too, the facility is intended to be at least partially funded by Florida’s taxpayers—thanks guys 🙂 — the nation is indebted to y’all!

Just so you fully understand, FEMA has this little-known Shelter and Services Program that was intended to provide help for local communities that receive new immigrants who have been released at the border by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The idea was to provide necessary support to ensure that people have their immediate and short-term emergency needs (such as food and temporary shelter) are met.

You might check me on this but I’m pretty sure Alligator Alcatraz” is an immigration detention facility, not a home away from home for migrants like maybe 2 FAMA officials may think.

Anyway, all this, and still, there is a tiny bit of good news: No more income tax on tips or overtime, yah! Workers will be able to deduct up to $25,000 in tips and up to $25,000 in overtime. But wait! The tax law change is only temporary; it ends Dec. 31, 2028, only weeks before Trump is ‘scheduled’ to leave office 🙁

The other good news is for those of you burdened with caring for America’s youth: Under current tax law, the maximum child tax credit is $2,000, which would have reverted to $1,000 after 2025.

The GOP’s spending Bill, aka Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, will permanently raise that maximum tax credit to $2,200 starting in 2025 with increases tied to inflation going forward.

Is this Bill fantastic or what?

Seriously, Friends and family, be aware that the vast majority of Republican Congressmen voted for Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill; two did not: Thomas Massie and Brian Fitzpatrick. Three Republican Seniors voted against it: Susan Collins, Rand Paul and Thom Tillis thus forcing VP Vance to vote yes to break a “tie” vote in the Senate.

If you currently long for retribution; just-cause may be that Medicaid’s funding changes under The Big Beautiful Bill are not scheduled to take effect until 2028, well past the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. On the other-hand, expanded work requirements for SNAP recipients are not set to begin until December 31, 2026-again after the November 3, 2026, midterm elections when all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate will be contested!  Mark your calendar and vote against those who obviously believe voters will have forgotten the votes they cast knowing that a majority of American voters opposed it!

That’ll teach them that we don’t always forget! Huh!
