Try to guess which country on Earth, that can grow Chestnuts, import more than 4.5 million pounds each year?
Here’s a hint:

Yep, the US grows about 3.5 million pounds every year and imports more than 4.5 million pounds from Italy, China, S Korea and others.
Where Can I buy Hybrid American Chestnuts? Actually, Chestnuts have a short shelf life compared to other nuts Sooo,
First, I’d try checking with Mountain Grown Chestnuts (during season: September through January); 205 Beelog Road, Burnsville, North Carolina 28714. They grow Castanea dentata x mollissima nuts which are sweet, large and edible aka Dunstan Chestnut Hybrids!
Their (Mountain Grown Chestnuts) hybrid grove of 72 Dunstan American Chestnut trees, at “planting” were considered closest to the true, pure American chestnut tree nuts of the 1800s era.
The Dunstan Hybrid American Chestnut tree produces large, sweet-tasting nuts that are similar in size and taste to traditional American chestnut tree nuts, of which approxiamately 99% (near 4 Billion trees) were killed in the US years ago by a fungus known as the “Chestnut Blight”!
However, Mountain Grown Chestnuts trees are blight-resistant, a trait inherited from their Chinese Chestnut tree parent.
