What better way to expand your ‘Dream’ horizons than scheduling your next Vacation on the “doorstep” of one of America’s Fantastic National Parks”!

Of the 63 U.S. National Parks two stand out as ideal for extended stays of 3 days or more. East of the Mississippi, you can’t go wrong with the most visited of U.S. Parks — every year since 1944: The Great Smokey Mountains!

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a top vacation destination because of its natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and many recreational activities in the area.  The three Perimeter towns, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville, TN are gateways to the Park that fit like a glove with several theme parks, Cabins, Lodges, Condos, Motels and a multitude of eateries!

On-the-other-hand, folks west of the Mississippi insist the Yellowstone National Park area is a whole other world from anything else, including the Great Smokey Mountains National Park!

While the Grand Canyon is far, far beyond the norm with inspirational views, its only close perimeter town, Tusayan, AZ is sooo small, folks often say you can throw a rock from one end to the other. The city of Williams is the nearest city of size, but it’s about an hour away from the South Rim. Tusayan is adjacent to the South Rim entrance though the tiny town has few places to lodge or eat as is magnified by its single gas station.

And yes, the Grand Canyon is visible from space — it is often photographed by astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS)

But then, Yellowstone has excellent perimeter towns in West Yellowstone, Montana, the western gateway to the Park and perhaps to a slightly lesser degree, Gardiner, Montana.  Cody, Wyoming is just too far (50+ miles) away from the perimeter of the park to be considered a border town.

Even though both West Yellowstone and Gardiner are about half the size of Gatlinburg, you might say that West Yellowstone is ideal for those seeking a bustling town with access to upscale lodging, dinning and winter sports; while Gardiner provides a quieter, nature-focused experience with excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.
