Are you old enough to remember the great Fruit Cakes A&P used to sell? T’was the Jane Parker brand, known for its high-quality baked goods. The fruit cakes were a holiday tradition for many Americans for more than 80 years.

By 1884, A&P operated stores as far west as Kansas City and as far south as Atlanta. You may be surprised that the company even operated wagon routes to serve rural customers back in the day.

However, A&P stopped producing the fruit cakes in 2014 and filed for bankruptcy shortly thereafter. The last remaining A&P supermarkets were closed or sold by November of 2016.

The good news, in 2017, brothers Chris and Alex Ronacher bought the Jane Parker brand and recipes, and the same great tasting fruit cakes are now available again.
