Is there an Affordable UTV for Teens?
Here’s where I’d planned to promote a “fun” UTV Ride for teenagers between 13 and 17 years-of-age. Only one, it appears, comes even close to “fulfilling the search”. Yep, it boasts a 48v 1200w DC Brush-less motor and is fed by four hefty 12v/12ah Sealed Lead Acid batteries (48v 12ah Total). MotoTec USA’s Raider has F/N/R gear options, a Shaft Drive transmission (no chain), the maximum rider weight is 165lbs, top speed can be set at 8mph, 15mph or 23mph, is recommended for teens aged 13 and up! And distance Per Charge ranges from 5 to 20 miles dependent upon the rider’s weight and the terrain — sounds absolutely perfect, huh?
Trouble is, according to multiple reviews, teens beyond 5 foot tall are sure to be “cramped” during their ride while some reviewers complain that the UTV often arrives with loose or missing nuts & bolts.
While the 165-pound rider weight limit is fantastic for teens 13-years-old and above, the fact that according to US measurement data, the average height of a 13-year-old boy is roughly 5 feet 4 inches while a 13-year-old girl averages 5 feet 2 inches tall. Hence, the omission of a typical rider’s height limit is frankly a deceptive measure. A circumstance that with little doubt has resulted in thousands of totally dissatisfied 13-year-old and above customers!
Frankly, in my humble opinion, Mototec’s 1000 Watt Raider should be targeted at 7 to 12-year-old riders—not teenagers 🙂
In any event, if you choose to purchase the Raider, be sure to check for loose or missing nuts & bolts before the “fun” begins and be aware that prices for the Raider vary from day to day, sooo, please compare current prices via the image-links below:
Finish.
