The Trouble With Flying Cars

A FakeNews Commentary

You’ve probably heard how safe it is to fly when compared to driving on America’s highways.

Yet, a recent poll says that half (50%) the folks who fly commercially have some sort of anxiety when flying. That’s a pretty high percentage of people, considering that, all you have to do when flying aboard either of the major airlines only requires sitting in a chair for an extended period of time. And, you have the option to read a book, watch a movie, sip on some sparkling wine, or perhaps quench your thirst with your favorite soda.

The simple fact is that being off the ground and up in the air still makes a lot of folks uneasy!

Armed with such information, is it not troubling to see the outrageous growth of all those flying cars “manned” with amateur operators that have taken to the skies of recent date. It certainly makes this reporter apprehensive, even though they are currently limited to the city’s of Atlanta,  New York, and Los Angeles - sooo, why worry?   On-a-count-a, you know that’s just the start of it!

Yeah, flying may be statistically safer than driving, but those stats don’t apply to the new breed of flying cars we’re seeing in the “sky-way” streets, boulevards, and avenues of the aforementioned US cities.

Okay, so Flying Auto’s may definitely be in our future; never-the-less, FakeNews would like you to consider a few of the drawbacks such “marvelous” machines offer us:

First, who among us longs to learn a whole new bunch of regulations that’s surely needed for flying a car? Yep, it’s a safe bet there are lots and lots of new rules!

Second, there will never be a need to worry about a bottleneck from an accident, but, who can possibly forget that’s only because the involved parties don’t block our “roadway” because they’ve fallen from high in the sky!

Third, break downs while zipping along in a flying car may be rare, but, they will happen; that, you can count on.  In such events, falling from the sky will most likely be deadly!

And forth, and most significantly, although lots of us may really, really want a flying car, yet, there is one big drawback to having one: Yep, you guessed it, they are very, very expensive. Even those cute two-seater’s start at more than 200 K.

Can You Imagine That
