Welcome to Denix, non-firing Pistol Replicas
The two Image-Links below Showcase the Denix, “Baby Philadelphia Derringer.” It was a muzzle-loading “pocket” pistol (up-close, it was deadly) back in the 1850’s and 1860’s. Yeah, it was John Wilkes Booth’s weapon of choice!
Atypical to the Denix Replica brand, these Replicas can fire standard “pull-off” or “Single” strip caps!

The Denix M1873 Non-Firing Buntline Gold on Black Replica. Overall Length: 17.5″ | Weight: 2 lbs. | Finish: Black/Gold | Grip: Faux Ivory | Cannot Ship To: NJ, NY City or RI
FYI: The Buntline Colt 45 Single Action is the holy grail of handgun collecting. With so few of these guns out there, they are largely seen in museums. As such, a fully functional pistol of this type easily commands a price of $1,500 to $1,800 on today’s market.
The Replica pistol showcased above is a Second-Generation Colt .45 Single Action Army “Buntline Special” of which Colt maintained production from 1957 through 1975 | 4,060 were produced, most were blued and case-hardened with rubber stocks, a few had two-piece walnut grips and 65 of the 4,060 were nickel finished.
The number of gold on black Buntline Specials produced remain an unknown.

It is possible to purchase Dummy 45-Caliber “Ammo” for the Buntline Special displayed above and it’s a bit unsettling to me that some industrious entrepreneur has successfully designed Dummy “Ammo” that can be fitted with standard “pull-off” caps for the few Denix Replicas that are equipped with a “firing pin” like the Buntline M1873 model displayed above.

But wait, to be perfectly honest I have some serious ambivalent feelings about converting my “Stately” Buntline Special into a Cap Pistol—that’ll make it a “toy”, don’t you think?
